There is a lot of negativity in the online world. Dedicate your Wednesday to sharing something positive from the week. Today we have two items that you may enjoy.

Justin Clark – Dr. Mary-Claire King
Ten years ago Dr. Mary-Claire King spoke at an American Cancer Society event that I organized. Her research discovered the BRCA1 gene which was an incredible breakthrough in cancer research, genetics, and the study of many illnesses.
At the event, she spoke with clarity and passion. She explained her work in an exciting and clear way, discussed the importance of funding research, and was able to connect it all to the volunteers in the room. Having the opportunity to thank her from stage during my speaking part of the program was an incredible honor.
I recently read this blog post on HuffPost, which was cross-posted from The Moth’s latest book for a special edition of HuffPost UK’s Life Less Ordinary blog series. You can also hear the story here. It is heartbreaking, inspiring, and amusing.

Justin Clark – Pod Save the People (again)
This is the second appearance for Pod Save the People in the post. I suspect it won’t be the last. The September 19 episode is informative and thought-provoking. Host DeRay McKesson speaks with Tennessee State Senator Lee Harris about prison sentences related to drug-free school zones. This topic is something I had never really thought about, and it was important to get a better understanding of the impact these laws have. Additionally, Deray talked to Sheriff Tom Dart from Cook County, Illinois about reducing the jail population, the need for mental health services, and cash bail. Finally, Brittany Packnett, Samuel Sinyangwe, and Clint Smith III chat about the week’s news.
