- Over the last few days, a great deal of attention has been given to the charities that have previously hosted galas and major events at President Trump’s resort Mar-a-Lago. Drew Harwell and David A. Fahrenthold of the Washington Post confirmed that eight nonprofit organizations have canceled plans to hold fundraising events at the club in Palm Beach. - Mark Hrywna of the Nonprofit Times highlighted many major non-profit news items after the devastating weekend in Charlottesville. PayPal announced that it would limit or close accounts used to promote hate and violence. Apple announced $1M gifts to the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center, while Arnold Schwarzenegger announced a $100,000 gift to the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
“Color of Change, a racial justice organization, launched a website called Blood Money to call out major credit card companies for processing funds for groups “that have inspired hate crimes and organized events like the ‘Unite the Right’ rally in Charlottesville.”
- Anna Berry from NPQ shared information from a couple of articles that discuss how policies in place are making migrant farm workers across Canada and the U.S. vulnerable to exploitation and deportation.
- The Pew Charitable Trusts published a podcast that discusses the financial toll of flooding and includes data that every $1 spent on flood protection saves $4 in the future.
